What would you do if you found out you were unemployed””right in the middle of planning a wedding? Adrienne and Darius didn’t let the news get them down – or let it drag them into debt. They made some smart choices with wedding vendors and leaned on each other through the difficult times.
So how did Adrienne, 24, and Darius, 28, meet?
Since Adrienne was a member of Delta Sigma Theta at Northwestern University and Darius was a member of Kappa Alpha Psi at DuPaul University, the young coeds shared many mutual acquaintances and bumped into each other often at events. “We were Facebook friends and didn’t even know it,” shares Darius with a laugh. When the pair “officially” met, they hit it off pretty quickly. “I thought he was a cool guy and cute, too,” recalls Adrienne. “On our first date, I didn’t really eat because I was so nervous but Adrienne ate everything!” Darius jokingly remembers. “She was down to Earth and had a good head on her shoulders,” he adds. “Darius was very easy to talk to and funny. Both are very important to me,” Adrienne explains.
