Motherhood is such an amazing journey. One I wouldn’t trade for the world. I enjoyed being pregnant as well as delivering my two beautiful daughters into the world. It continued to be a blessing as I nurtured them and provided guidance as they continue to grow. That nurturing for me also came in the form of breast feeding. I wasn’t able to do it for an extended period of time, but I found there was nothing greater than the bound that is built during this time. This is exactly why I love the photo of model Ashley Nicole breast feeding her son. Ashley is the girlfriend of Philip Wheeler, Linebacker for the Miami Dolphins.
There was almost an instant uproar the moment Ashley posted this photo on her Instagram. There were 2,873 comments with over 750 liking the photo. The comments ranged from the photo being too sexy and inappropriate to questioning how you breastfeed standing up. Philip, quite naturally, immediately came to Ashley’s defense. It’s amazing how people can take a beautiful photo and turn it into something else. I think people look for things to complain about and ways to be hurtful to others. Breastfeeding is natural, normal and beautiful. God designed the breast for the purpose of nursing a baby. Yeah, as busy moms you may catch us on the go, but motherhood always comes first. I was quite pleased to see that In the midst of the negative remarks also came a flood of supporters.
I love that Ashley is enjoying motherhood and not afraid to show the world. She’s also gained quite a new following from men if course who see her beauty. But also of women who can relate and who are proud to call themselves a mom.
