Where is the Haiti Coverage? And Why Not #PrayforHaiti

Why is no one talking about Haiti? The disaster-stricken Caribbean nation has seen its slew of problems. It’s still struggling to repair itself from its devastating 2010 earthquake, which killed 90,000 people.

Now the country has experienced its next biggest disaster in Hurricane Matthew, which, authorities report, has so far claimed 339 lives, destroyed 3,200 homes and displaced 15,000 people.

This is a global tragedy if we’ve ever seen one. But we’ve not heard much talk about it, no huge drive to transpose the Haitian national flag over Facebook profiles. No huge public outcry. Nothing.

We have, however, seen a few jokes.

So this is funny? Are we that insensitive that we just look over death and tragedy for the sake of a few comical laughs and social media likes?

Yes, we should all be praying for Florida, too, as the hurricane is expected to hit the East coast today, but can we not acknowledge the devastation and human life lost in Haiti. Or is this just another matter of WHICH human lives matter?

BMWK, do you think there has been enough news coverage and global concern over Haiti?
