10 Reasons We Are Going to Severely Miss the Obamas in the White House

[tps_header]BMWK family, can you believe our first but FOREVER family will be leaving the White Office?  It seems like only yesterday we made history, and no one anywhere can take that away from us!

Seriously, people where does the time go?!?!  January 20, 2017 is merely around the corner; please say it isn’t so (someone come wipe away my tears). We’ve grown to love the Obamas as if they were a part of our own families. We’ve watch their daughters blossom into young adults, we’ve seen Obama himself gray while still retaining his signature smile and wit, we’ve seen Michelle captivate America with her charms, and we’ve walked with them through good times and dark days in our country.

The Obamas, as a family, will go down in history as one of the most famous families ever!  Just let that digest for a moment. That’s so RICH in so many ways.

We are going to miss us some Barack, Michelle, Sasha and Malia…oh yes, let’s not forget their fur baby, Bo, after all, he is family too!

Below is a list of 10 reasons why we will truly miss having Barack Obama as our President and the Obamas as our First Family.[/tps_header]

BARACK OBAMA’S ELECTION WAS HISTORICALLY EPIC!

Only half a century ago, we as black people in the U.S. were still battling to be permitted in the same educational institutions and use the same facilities as white people in the United States.

Sure, there are still many national problems to face (and likely more with the next administration), but electing a black president to the highest office in the land appeared to reveal a large amount of improvement. Ever since Obama’s election on November 4, 2008, we’ve had the pleasure of witnessing this walking, talking example of progress.

P.D.A. BABY!

Like no other president and first lady before, the Obamas gave us a deeper look into their personal life. And that came with plenty of PDA (Public Displays of Affection) from the lovers. We were truly blessed to see a first-class marriage, filled with these up-close-and-personal displays of love. His term gave us a bonus experience we weren’t expecting—a global example of black love that we can all be proud of!

BARACK STRENGTHENED US-AFRICA TIES

President Obama’s administration altered the U.S. foreign policy regarding African nations to focus on “trade not aid,” which aimed to grow US-to-Africa business partnerships.

Also, back in February 2015, President Obama finalized the Electrify African American Act into law, which has the prospective to carry energy to at least 50 thousand individuals residing in sub-Saharan African by 2020. And during his presidential trip to South Africa, he renewed interest to several problems such as sex equal rights, cultural separation and crime. “I’m here as someone who wants South Africa to achieve success,” he stated.

HE HAS A TERRIFIC SENSE OF HUMOR

Being responsible for the world’s greatest superpower is a serious job no doubt, but President Obama still manage to keep his wit during his administration. From his talk show appearances to his playful banter with caught on tape.  Have to love our POTUS!

HE TASTEFULLY STANDS UP FOR HIMSELF

Obama has had to handle a lot of hate and backlash from other political figures. Yet, he was never threatened.Remeber when some associates of the legislature were poking fun of him by applauding when he said: “I have no more campaigns to run.” (around mark 2:45 in the video) He went off script and responded with a laugh, “I know because I won both of them.”

BAM, that just happened!.  Even some of the Republicans couldn’t help but crack a smile (take notes, Mr. 45th President, that’s how you jab back and stay classy).

HE IS NOT AFRAID TO SHARE HIS OPINION

Even when he is discussing a particularly polarizing topic (which many politicians just try to stay clear of), he never shied away from expressing his ideas. He distributed his emotions about cops violence – a hot topic over the last several months.

“So when people say ‘Black Lives Matter,’ that doesn’t mean blue lives don’t matter,” he said. “This isn’t a matter of us comparing the value of lives. This is recognizing that there is a particular burden that is being placed on a group of our fellow citizens.  And we should care about that.  We can’t dismiss it.”

HE HAD HIS BONNIE TO HIS CLYDE…TRULY A GREAT FIRST LADY ON HIS SIDE

Michelle Obama is my favorite first lady for her knowledge, grace and spirit. She used her platform to take on several of her own projects. Some of the initiatives included equal rights, battling being overweight in America, assisting young girls go to school, etc. Can’t wait to see what she does next!

HE BROUGHT HOPE BACK

In 2009, when he was first sworn in, the U.S. was in dire straits. The economic system was going through a bad economic downturn and unemployment was skyrocketing, he gave us HOPE!

“Hope is not blind optimism. It’s not ignoring the enormity of the task ahead or the roadblocks that stand in our path. It’s not sitting on the sidelines or shirking from a fight. Hope is that thing inside us that insists, despite all evidence to the contrary, that something better awaits us if we have the courage to reach for it, and to work for it, and to fight for it. Hope is the belief that destiny will not be written for us, but by us, by the men and women who are not content to settle for the world as it is, who have the courage to remake the world as it should be.”? Barack Obama

HE IS A DEDICATED FATHER

When their dad was elected president, Malia was 10 years old and Sasha was merely 7. Now, Malia is college-bound!  Barack Obama shared that he nearly cried when she began her last season of high school. He is always so complimentary of his daughters…“The truth is these ladies are amazing.  You know they do their best, they perform a lot more than I ever did when I was a kid.”

WE FELT LIKE THEY WERE NORMAL, JUST LIKE US

They made it look like living in the White House was just a normal thing. When they made television appearances, they felt unscripted, casual and sincere.  They even did things that we could see ourselves doing among our family and friends.

For instance, remember the president’s impromptu singing or when he playfully taunted with a girl’s jealous boyfriend at the polling station or when Michelle Obama broke it down on the dance floor? Or who could forget when Ellen DeGeneres challenged the First Lady to a push-up contest?

They really seemed to be living a normal life while occupying the presidency—and we enjoyed every last bit of it.
