Valentine’s Day is a day to celebrate love and relationships but it doesn’t have to break the bank. There are many ways to have a good time and not spend a lot of money doing it, especially if you live in a warm climate and can go outside and enjoy great free activities around your town.
Here are 21 ways to celebrate on a budget. Number 22 has been added so that you can post and add to the list. Be creative; what else can you do for Valentine’s Day without spending a lot of cash but still show you care?
- Enjoy a quiet evening at home in front of the fireplace with your favorite local pizza.
- Cuddle up on the sofa for a movie and don’t allow your special time to be interrupted.
- Give yourselves a budget and don’t go over it. Ex: Let’s get each other something but you can’t spend over $10.
- Cook dinner together at home and go out for dessert.
- Cook dinner and dessert together, include the kids. Put them to bed early, turn on some music and dance the night away.
- Run a nice hot bath and enjoy it together.
- Start a few days before Valentine’s and begin leaving special sexy notes in your spouse’s work bag or around the house so they find them, bringing a smile to their heart. Make a promise in one of the notes. Deliver that promise on Valentine’s Day.
- What is it that your mate REALLY likes? Do that thing. [A foot massage, back rub, ice cream from a favorite place]
- Go out to a matinee movie and save paying full price.
- Wrap yourself up in a big red bow and be the present.
- Say I love you and kiss every time you see each other during the day.
- Hold hands everywhere you go.
- Make cards for each other. Cut out pictures that show if money were no object, “I would give you the world.”
- Make a pack NOT to become angry or frustrated with one another for the entire 24 hours of Valentine’s Day.
- Pack a picnic meal and enjoy it in the park if in a warm area.
- Visit your favorite museum together if weather permits.
- Go for a long walk, find a bench, sit with your arms around one another and enjoy the scenery.
- Go out to dinner, buy one meal and share it. You may not get full but you can enjoy each other’s company.
- Pull out the photo albums and stroll down memory lane, remember your wedding day and the love you experienced. Recall special moments in your life.
- Buy a single rose instead of a dozen. Or instead of buying flowers and candy, buy one or the other.
- Surprise your mate throughout the day with phone calls, texts and emails.
