Ladies, it’s that time of year for summer weddings and you may have a few to attend. Before you begin serial shopping for various outfits to wear to these impending nuptials, allow me to share some tips on what not to wear to a summer wedding.
1. An all white dress.
Some say it is ok to do this, however, according to Martha Stewart Weddings, “If you do show up in white, you’re not technically doing anything wrong, but people might talk (almost everyone who hasn’t read those etiquette books thinks this is wrong) and you’ll be known as “the girl who wore white at so-and-so’s wedding.” It’s just not worth it. Let the big day be about the guest of honor — the bride — and save your white dress for a special occasion that doesn’t involve vows.” So with that being said, I think you shouldn’t wear all white.
2. All black.
I love black, it’s slimming and sexy. However, for a wedding black should not be your go to outfit of choice. All black is usually associated with funerals and since a wedding is a happy occasion, just incorporate some very cute black accessories.
3. Jeans.
Unless the bride and groom are getting married in jeans, do not show up wearing yours. What about colored skinny jeans with heels? No. That is bachelorette party dress code.
4. Club wear.
A wedding is a classy occasion. Don’t cheapen it by wearing what you wore to the bachelorette party or the club the night before. Even though the reception will feature dancing and single, sexy men, it is not the same thing as the club. Skimpy clothes fall into the bachelorette party dress code.
Now that you know what to wear to the wedding, enjoy yourself, the newly betrothed couple, and enjoy the free food, drinks and music. If you follow these tips, you will be known as the stylish girl not the hoochie girl at the wedding!
