“Baby how come your fried chicken doesn’t get as crispy and juicy like my mother’s does?”
I figured out when I was young to NEVER compare your WOMAN to your MOTHER. I was in my young twenties with no real frame of reference, but I got a lesson that day because my then girlfriend hit me with the “well if you don’t like it then why don’t you go get your mama to cook it then.” I was startled because I didn’t think much of what I was saying but she took it personal, and I paid the price that day.
This got me to thinking about how sometimes as men, we have a tendency to unfairly compare our wives to our mothers, and sometimes it can come off as insulting. OK OK OK men I know the ladies have a tendency to compare us to their fathers as well, but for the sake of this blog, let’s look at a few scenarios where we should probably stop the comparisons!
