4 Ways to Show Your Appreciation Daily

This past week I had the extreme pleasure of being a guest on the Michael Baisden show. The topic of discussion was “Appreciation Day”. The subject mainly focused on how women should show appreciation to the men in their lives. I  hadn’t  really considered the significance of such a topic until I was being asked to discuss it with Michael.

After being presented with the details of the show, I couldn’t help but get excited about participating in this needed conversation. So many of us forget to show our mates just how much we appreciate them on a daily basis. The Michael Baisden show frequently brings up topics that have a huge influence on our communities. Appreciation Day, while it might seem small in nature, can really assist in holding our relationships together.

During our conversation, Michael shared that men are sensitive and have needs too, to which I quickly touched on how men don’t normally come right out and ask for what they need which makes it challenging for the women in their lives. I advised the women listeners to be observant of the signs. In case our men never share it, we are able to get some insight just by paying attention. Once we recognize exactly what brings our spouse joy, we should promptly add them to our “to do” list. What a great way to show appreciation.

In the day-to-day hustle and bustle, this is the thing that seems to be forgotten the most. I admit there have been some days I forgot to tell my husband I appreciate him or even show him. While he knows I do, he deserves to hear it and experience it more frequently. As do I. Both partners need to always feel valued. If your marriage struggles in this area, here are a few ways to show your appreciation:

“¢ Let your actions speak louder than your words. Show your gratitude by cooking your spouse’s favorite meal or by surprising
your spouse with something small they mentioned they really wanted.

“¢ Be appreciative of the small everyday things. People often say we shouldn’t thank our loved ones for doing things they are  supposed to do. But those everyday tasks are important and we owe it to our mates to say just how grateful we are that they
handle them.

“¢ Think outside the box with your appreciation. As I mentioned above, we must look for the signs. Even if our spouse never
says, we have to keep our eyes open as to what puts a smile on his/her face.

“¢ Ask our spouse how they most feel appreciated. Using this direct approach will provide the information we need to show our  partner just how much they mean to us.

Every day should be appreciation day for our spouses. I am grateful that Michael Baisden provided the platform for this conversation. I am even more excited that couples everywhere where calling in to the show to share what they appreciate most about their spouse. It is important that we keep this conversation going.
