If it hasn’t happened in your relationship, it’s coming. I can assure you. Soon your lady will come in and say these words, “Bae, I think I want to go natural”. After those words are uttered, you’ll feel the change in the air. And before you know it, you’re both going Natural without you truly knowing what that means. I want to help all my fellas out a bit. When your lady says this and carries out her natural mission, there are 5 things you can do to earn natural points and high favor in her life. Let’s count them down, shall we?
1. Ask her why she’s returning back to her natural hair, and listen intently to her response
Fellas this one is vital, and critical to your relationship health. Are you picking up what I’m putting down? If you need to record her while she explains this, do that. The words she says during this time will come in handy when her journey seems too hard to bear. Being able to regurgitate her words back to her as encouragement will not only gain you hair points, but will show that you actually listened to her. And isn’t that what she has always wanted?
2. Go with her for her Big Chop
If you don’t know by now, the big chop is a big deal. During this time, you being in attendance will solidify her affection towards you and her journey. You’ll come off being Mr. Supportive, and you’ll get to remove the anxiety of her coming home with her new cut stressing about what you’ll think.
3. Pick up product sample sizes
She’ll be on the hunt for products to use after she returns back to her natural hair. Before she spirals down Product Junkie lane, tell her you learned from SistersWithBeauty that she should try out sample sizes of a few products before she commits herself to using one and paying for it. Your small understanding and rationale towards this idea will make your woman feel like silk in the summertime. Not only have you listened and supported her; you’ve also researched on her behalf. 4. Attend a natural hair expo or natural hair event with her
Go, enjoy, and hold her bag of goodies to keep her hands free. Take pictures of her with her new favorite bloggers and enjoy seeing the smile on her face. Having her man by her side while she walks the expo floor will be the highest moment thus far. You won’t see many men attending the natural hair event with their lady and that will prove my point. Attend this event and be open to seeing and helping her embrace all of the things the event has to offer.
5. Do one of the following:
- Help her retwist or at least put in effort to learn
- Give her a scalp massage after a long day at work
Either one of these two being done are SOLID GOLD points. Not only are you showing interests to learn, you’re also willing to give her relaxation after a long day.
