50 Million Pound Challenge Week 6

We’re back for our weekly update on the State Farm 50 Million Pound Challenge. It’s not too late to join our team that we have going on their site. Here is an update on how we’re doing so far:

HER VIEW:
Mother’s Day was great! My husband pampered me from morning to night. He prepared all of my meals and took care of the girls. It was lovely to just sit on the couch and do absolutely nothing. Actually the only thing that I did do on Mother’s day was to comb our girls’ hair (as my husband has not mastered that skill just yet…but don’t worry I am going to teach him that too!!)

I knew my husband was planning to cook dinner on the grill that night. And grilled food is my weak point…..my Achilles heel. I don’t know how to just eat one meat and my sides and push away from the table. Noooooooooooo, I grab a hamburger and a hot dog…..don’t let us have any steak or brats because I might grab some of that too. But on Mother’s day, I had Dr. Ian sitting on my shoulder like a little angel (or devil depending on the day.) So when Lamar came to me asking what I wanted for breakfast, I said please just fix me a bowl of Cheerios. Because I knew that he was cooking on the grill later that day. When it came time for dinner, I actually impressed myself. Lamar cooked these juicy burgers and the hot dogs had just the right amount of grill lines on the …and a few little crispy spots just like I like them. Oooh and the steaks were cooked to perfection. So what did I do, the first thing I did was to cut that steak in half. On the challenge, they tell you that you should not have more that 4 oz of meat with your meal…and I kept that in mind. The next thing I did was to steal a taste of hot dog from one of the kids…. So instead of getting my own hot dog…I just tasted one and that was satisfying for me.

I feel that participating in this challenge helps me to make better meal choices. And it is easy with the daily meal plans. I look at the menu each day for guidance. Even if I don’t have the exact menu items, I make substitutions. I think the biggest thing that I have learned is to incorporate fresh fruits and veggies into my diet. If I go to the kitchen to snack, I make sure it is one of my servings of fruits or veggies.

HIS VIEW:
I’ve been inputting my weight from time to time and I’m still at the same place which is actually what I wanted. I’m in this for a healthier and more fit lifestyle. What’s cool about the site though is you can input your weight as often as you’d like and it will track your progress with a graph. You can also check your body mass index to see if you’re in a healthy range for your height and weight. Mine said I was actually about 10 pounds overweight but I can’t afford to lose that 10 so I’m just trying to redistribute   lol.
Today I’m hitting the weights and this weekend I plan on joining Ronnie with her jog for my cardiovascular work. I’m going to try to workout with the weights at least 3 times a week due to time constraints but I’m determined.

BMWK family, give us your update? Have you lost any weight? Are you living a healtiher lifestyle? Our team on the 50million Pound Challenge is still being led by “eldubble”. If you haven’t already, be sure to join our team and we’ll see you next week with another update.
