7 Fall 2014 Trends for the Busy but Fashionable Mom

Being the mother of a two-year-old little boy, I do not have the time nor energy to wear half of the fashion trends I write about on a daily basis. Most looks are only suitable for the petite figures strutting the runway and, once off said runway, would be entirely impractical for my busy lifestyle. With that being said, I do take a glance once and a while to see if any of the newest trends would work for this fashionable mom and Fall 2014 has me excited.

I recently dove into the Fall 2014 trend reports, magazine September issues, and catalogs piling up on my coffee table just to see what the designers had in store for us. Surprise and borderline glee crossed my face as I realized that the Fall fashions are a lot less buttoned up than I was expecting. I’m seeing slouchy blazers, snazzy jogging pants, and designer sneakers matched with dresses — yup! The fashion gods just may have heard my prayers.

Fall 2014 will be a lot more relaxed and therefore suitable for the busy mom. Check out 7 trends for the fall that just may work for the park or your next birthday party marathon.

1. Dressy Jogging Pants

Pair them with your high top sneakers for day, then change to stiletto heels for a night out. Either way, enjoy the jogging pants trend while it lasts.

2. Wedge Booties

Midway between a high heel boot and a flat, these hybrids make walking easy without sacrificing your style.

3. Fanny Packs

Get those horrible highlighter green fanny packs out of your mind and take a look at the new more sleek styles made for the modern mom.

4. Elaborate Stud Earrings

Where chandelier earrings and statement rings used to rule, now we have stackable wire rings and elaborate studs. Much harder for little fingers to get a hold of.

5. Robe Coats

The robe coat is making a comeback. Get it in bright colors to make a real statement while on the go. Easy on and easy off for running out the door..

6. High Top Sneakers

A hold over from Spring, sneakers were paired with maxi dresses and evening gowns on the runway, but you can just match them up with skinny jeans and a cute sweater.

7. Novelty Prints

You know you have your favorite cartoons. Your child isn’t the only one laughing at Spongebob or singing along to Bubble Guppies. Now, you can wear your fave cartoon with pride.
