7 Unique Wedding Ceremony Ideas

If you are not the traditional type of bride, I’m going to share some ideas to make your ceremony unique. From the walk down the aisle as singles to the procession as husband and wife, your ceremony can be filled with little twists as you join your lives together before your friends and family.

1. For the Groom –  Instead of the groomsmen lining up at the alter to wait on the rest of the party, have the groom and his groomsmen walk down the aisle. Another alternative is to have the groom’s parents escort him down the aisle.

2. For the Bride – The bride can be escorted by her parents instead of just her father. Or, the bride can be escorted by her bridesmaids. She can opt to walk ahead or behind so she can have her spotlight.

3.  For the Couple – The couple can walk down the aisle together. To me, it would look like they are going to God to be joined together.

4. For the Wedding Party – For a wedding I planned for a friend, I had the bridesmaids walk in empty-handed as a groomsman walked with a bouquet behind him. When they met at the aisle, the man knelt and handed the flowers to the bridesmaid and they continued toward the alter. I’ve seen where the wedding party consisted of married couples and the instead of the men presenting the bouquet, they placed the wedding rings on their wife’s finger.

5. For the Vows –  If the bride and groom are vocally talented, they can sing their vows to each other.

6. For the Prayer – After reciting the vows, have the parents tie a white ribbon around the couple to symbolize them becoming one. The parents can say a few words to the new couple or offer a prayer and then remove the ribbon.

7. For the Ceremony – Instead of lighting a unity candle, purchase a unity cross. The cross comes in a few pieces to be put together by the couple.

Hopefully these ideas will help in your planning process. Remember that your wedding ceremony is just that, yours. Adding your personal touches will surely awe your guests.
