A Black History Tribute to Remember for Romare Bearden

Tonight Lamar and I joined   Everywhere and many of our Atlanta social media friends at the Macys Lenox Square for a evening of Tweeting and Toasting and a Tribute to Romare Bearden in honor of his 100th birthday. It was a perfect evening that included a chance to view several of Romare Bearden’s original paintings.

My favorite piece of the night was Morning as it totally captured the essence of African American life. Just looking at the painting made me feel warm inside.   I wanted to be in that room with that potbellied stove, snuggled up with my mom.

In addition, to learning about Romare Bearden, one of America’s premier collagists, we enjoyed talking with our favorite social media buddies while listening to a great Jazz band and eating hors d’oeuvres that were made from Romare’s own Caribbean inspired recipes.

Macys has been hosting Black History events such as this for over 4 years now. If you are in the Atlanta area, please stop by Macys Lenox Square to see the Romare Bearden exhibition. The exhibit runs from Feb 9 to Feb 12th.   And don’t worry about not being in Atlanta because Macys will be highlighting   Bearden’s works via special exhibition and events in   select Macy’s stores nationwide

BMWK family – How are you celebrating Black History Month this year?

Disclosure – Lamar and I were compensated for co-hosting the event.   However, the views and opinions in this post are our own. And we truly did enjoy ourselves tonight!
