Actor Samuel L. Jackson always has a lot of swag in front of the camera, but the movie star says that his real life personality is nothing like his on-screen persona. Since he’s recently made a name for himself on Twitter, fans tend to take his straight-forward, occasionally profanity-laced, tweets to mean that the real Sam Jackson is the same as the characters he so often plays. “…My Twitter character is a character. It’s me in a way, but it’s not me,” he said to Total Film.
“When you play characters that say snappy things and seem to be in control in their environment, people label that as being cool. I don’t see myself as that because I get confused sometimes during the day and I have moments of (F*%$) I wish I could do something about this, and I can’t.’ And I don’t feel so cool.”
After dropping 22 pounds to get in shape for a concert, “Rev Run” Simmons plans to continue his journey toward improved health and fitness to ward off what he says is a pre-disposition to Type 2 Diabetes. Run lost weight in preparation for the 7th Annual Fun Fun Fun Fest, which he performed in with Run D.M.C. groupmate Darryl “D.M.C” McDaniels. In addition to wanting to be in a “Mick Jagger-type of condition” , Run told the Huffington Post that he wants to avoid the Type 2 diabetes that his father developed later in life. Run’s turned to walking outdoors and on the treadmill to keep his weight down.
Nick Cannon has signed a first-look production deal with NBC, the network where Cannon is also host of the show America’s Got Talent. The deal expands Cannon’s, along with manager Mike Goldman’s, role with the network giving him the opportunity to create scripted and unscripted television programming for NBC under his NCredible Entertainment banner. If this new deal and America’s Got Talent weren’t enough, Cannon will also star in “Real Husbands of Hollywood,” a new BET comedy co-starring Boris Kodjoe, Duane Martin, J.B. Smoove and Robin Thicke. “Real Husbands” is produced by Kevin Hart and premieres on January 15.
Duane Martin has also been cast opposite actress Tia Mowry in the pilot of the new Nick at Nite comedy “Instant Mom.” Martin plays the older husband of Mowry’s character, a 25-year-old party girl who becomes an “instant mom” to Martin’s character’s three kids. The show will also star actress Sheryl Lee Ralph as Mowry’s mom. Always A List
