This week’s challenge will talk about something that will definitely hit home if you have daughters like we do. We’re talking about age appropriate beauty. Yes I already know, we’re being bombarded left and right by images that are telling our children that in order to be pretty they should look like this or that. Am I the only one who was shocked to see that they make shoes with heels for kids who can barely walk? Who doesn’t remember the the clothing company who started selling bikinis for young girls?
As I’ve mentioned many times before we have three young girls and they see mommy put on makeup, nail polish and her other essentials and they want to be like her. Every now and then we’ll let them do their finger nails (our 9 year old is getting pretty good at doing this for her younger sisters) but keeping the age appropriate part in mind is something we’re very aware of. We feel like, with everything going on in today’s society the last thing that we need to do is encourage them to grow up even faster.
