2 Remarkable Ways Being a Proverbs 31 Woman is Bound to Impact Your Man

Many Christian women, before they get married, often pray about becoming like the Proverbs 31 woman.  This is a high calling that they strive, and may even vow to be, for their one special man. Some of the amazing qualities of this Biblically divine woman include:

  1. Her steadfast faith in God.
  2. Her unconditional relationship with her Husband.
  3. Her wise counsel and mothering of her children.
  4. Her excellent care for her health.
  5. Her unparalleled service to others.
  6. Her financially sound mind.
  7. Her professional drive and accomplishments.
  8. Her consistency and endurance as a home maker.
  9. Her wisdom and use of time and speech.
  10. Her authentic inner and outer beauty.

Needless to say, it is awesome when a woman, by embracing the traits of Proverbs 31, strives to become her best self and ultimately the woman of her man’s dreams.

But, what does her man think about this?  How is he impacted by the changes she is making?  And, is that impact for the good? Let’s take a look at two ways his Proverbs 31 Woman’s character helps her man to be his best!

1. It makes him feel respected.

When I come home from work each day and my wife, who stays at home with our brand new 2 month old, not only has the baby asleep but the house cleaned and in order, I automatically feel a sense of respect and value.

Now, it’s not like this each day.  But, she has the desire to encourage me every time I come home from work, by presenting a home of peace and order. This makes me want to work harder for her and ensure she has everything she needs.

Don’t get me wrong, if the house was a mess, I have no problems serving my family and doing my part. And, some may say, the way I lead my home has a direct impact on some of the choices my wife makes.

But, I see the Proverbs 31 woman in my wife who “watches over the affairs of her household and does not eat the bread of idleness.” I see a woman who “sets about her work vigorously,” and she “has no fear for her household.”

That’s just plain sexy.  It makes me “have full confidence in her,” and it makes me feel like a husband who is “respected at the city gate.”  It makes me want to be better.

So, which quality of the Proverbs 31 woman makes your husband feel respected? If you are a wife who also works full time, maybe your “strength and dignity” come through helping to manage the finances or even managing the schedule for the family.

As men, a part of your respect for us is evident in your care for us.  Seeing the Proverbs 31 woman in you strengthens our resolve to go the extra mile in everything we do. There is no greater feeling for a husband than knowing he is loved and respected by his family.

2. It will challenge him to be your Ephesians 5 Husband.

Your husband needs to be challenged because you are co-laborers in your love, life, and family. This means there are times when he is down and you will need to pick him up, or if you are down or struggling, he helps you get through it. No spouse is perfect and always okay.

So as you strive to be the Proverbs 31 woman, your spouse is challenged to be the husband Ephesians 5 calls him to be.

The Ephesians 5 husband is a man who leads his family well, and sets an example as the head of the home. But although he may be the head, the wife is the body.

They must work together as a team. This is not a challenge to make one spouse feel less than the other; rather, it is a challenge that highlights the significance and necessity of their partnership.  And, through her husband’s eyes, there’s nothing sexier than a wife who tells him how amazingly powerful he is.

I encourage you to look at that list of the qualities of the Proverbs 31 woman.  If you see areas where you may need to grow, do not be disheartened.  Rather, be encouraged at the life and strength your growth will give to your marriage.

Your husband will be renewed by your greater sense of respect while also being challenged, in a healthy way, to step up his Ephesians 5 game.

As you grow, be sure to pray each day that God would cause these qualities to become a part of your nature so you each do them without thinking.

So, how does the Proverbs 31 wife look to her husband?  He sees a woman who is “clothed with strength and dignity and can laugh at the days to come.”  And, as such, he sees a woman he can “love, as Christ loved the church.”

And, to God be the Glory!
