How Do You Do What You Love and Care for the People That You Love?

For some women career and parenthood coincide. They are two aspects of life intertwined sometimes out of sheer desire and sometimes out of necessity or both. While it often appears as though most parents have somehow found a way to balance the various roles in their life, sit down and have a heart to heart with her and most mothers will tell you that they aren’t balancing things at all. Instead, what most often happens is priorities rotate and things are done as best as they can be. For some a reality in which they do what they love while caring for the people they love is a must so they make it work.

TheGrio features a story on a mother, LaShann DeArcy Hall, who “balances” her law career with taking care of her toddler. Read her story and it is evident that she puts her heart into what she does — both with regards to her career and raising her daughter.

“At the end of the day, it’s stressful, we work long hours, but I am doing what I love to do,” DeArcy Hall says. “I get to have a career that is the career I would choose for myself, and it’s not just one that I’m doing because I have to.”

As more women pursue careers while still striving to keep their families a priority it can be encouraging to read the stories of other women who are doing the same. Perhaps they aren’t doing it perfectly (and really who is?) but they are always doing the very best they can. For more on this story visit theGrio.
