To lead means to guide, go in front of, and show the way. Ephesians 5:23 says: for the husband is the head of the wife; as also Christ is the head of the church; and He is the Savior of the body. So husbands, it is your duty to lead your wife and family.
Where you lead not only impacts your marriage but will have an effect on your children. They have no choice but to be led by you. Where would you like them to go?
You don’t have to feel burdened by the mandate placed on you because God will give you the wisdom and strength to lead your family. All you have to do is maintain your relationship with Him and trust Him.
The reason you have been called to lead is because God has a work for you and your family.
In a previous article, 4 Ways Your Marriage is a Ministry, I shared how you will minister in your marriage. What God calls you to do is not always about you, but about others. Sometimes, you will be the only church that people see.

When husbands lead, they impact how their children behave. Sons will know how to be a husband and father, and daughters will know how their husbands should to treat them and their children. Kids watch your actions, good and bad.
If you worry that your wife won’t follow you, I believe she would probably be willing to follow if she knows where you are going. It is important to communicate with each other to know what each other’s thoughts are concerning your family.
She needs to know that you are truly following the Lord and His direction and not leading the family down the wrong road. Failure to lead may cause your wife to assume the role of leadership which in turn causes your house to become out of order.

Be careful who and what you follow. I believe it should be God you follow, so be sure to ask yourself if God is not leading you, who or what is? Whatever you follow, your family follows. Keep your family on the right track so you won’t derail into destruction.
If you are unsure where to lead or even how to lead, God is willing to help you. Proverbs 3:6 says “in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths.”
