Singles: 3 Great Ideas to Experience this Spring

As the grass returns to a lush green and gorgeous flowers bud and bloom, exploration, growth, and love is essential for us singles and Spring is a great time to invest in that. While it may be time for the warm up season we call Spring (finally), we can get into some possible ideas for activities that singles can enjoy in this beautiful time of the year.

Explore

Spring is a great time for singles to explore the environments around them. This is the season for spring break, meaning that there are airline deals and sales galore. Maybe you need a break from the city you live in and want to take a weekend away somewhere warmer. Why not? You can either make the plans to go in this season or plan/save to travel in the summer with good friends or even on your own. I personally will be traveling this year solo to a couple of destinations, and I’m not letting that keep me from having a good time. Where do you have in mind that you’d like to go? Connect with your family members or trusted friends in other cities and pay them a visit. I’m sure they’ll be happy to host you. Need some destination inspiration? Look up travel sites that offer deals to get inspired such as Travel Zoo.

You can even plan a stay-cation, such as a spa weekend in a far off suburb but still close to home. Since it’s warmer out and more people will be outside, take your lunch breaks out of the workplace or take a walking break to enjoy the space around you (if it’s a good area at least). Spend some time in the downtown cities or areas of your neighborhood over the weekends with friends. Connect with people again, without a phone or tablet to filter interaction.

Grow

If you live in or near a large city, you have opportunities to attend some conferences, conventions and other events for your mind, spirit, wallet, heart—you name it! Take some time to reflect on what you want to focus on in this season. Is it losing weight that you didn’t get to tackle since the beginning of this year? Is it dealing with any unaddressed issues from past relationships? Do you need to learn something about finance to improve your wealth? Get some wisdom from experts in the fields that address where you desire to grow this season. Your local church or ministry may even have events for life and spiritual development.

As a single this is an important activity for personal and professional development. We are all learning and growing throughout life, but in your unmarried years are the times to be focused on your development into who God has called you to be. This involves developing and sharpening your spiritual gifts and discovering or working in your life’s purpose. The point of it all is to be active in good things that feed your spirit and delight in the Lord (Psalm 37:4).

Love

If you’re dating or in a romantic relationship, there are many great date ideas for couples in the Spring season. Take in a baseball game or some outside sports together and with friends or other couples. There are always new restaurants and cafes to try, especially those with outdoor seating to enjoy one another’s company in the nice weather. Take time this season to get to know one another and serve together. Find volunteer opportunities to give back to the community while spending time together. Many churches and nonprofit organizations all over, are in need of volunteers throughout the year, so make some time with a date or friends to give back.

If you are single without a date, you can still do the activities above. Take the time to develop your relationship with the Lord and yourself. Self love and self esteem are two vital components of healthy individuals and relationships. Don’t be desperate to find love, just prepare and be willing to give love and it will come back to you in little and big ways. No matter what you end up doing this season, make the most of it and enjoy life! Here’s to a beautiful and bountiful season as a single!
