Top 10 Things Women Love To Do On Valentine’s Day

[tps_header] Valentine’s Day is around the corner. For many, this day of love comes with some stress due to the uncertainty around gift ideas. It doesn’t have to be that way, though. Honestly, it shouldn’t be that way. Expressing yourself to the woman you love should come easily.

February 14th shouldn’t be about how much you spend or how many gifts you buy. It should be a day of expressing love in a special way. If you feel like you have to break the bank to impress your lady, don’t blame the holiday. You may need to have a deeper conversation with that special lady in your life about what expressing love means to you.

So with all the commercials for jewelry, flowers, chocolate and who knows what else, how do you determine what to give your lady on Valentine’s Day? Well I suggest putting your focus on what your lady loves to do instead of searching for the perfect gift. The thought you put into creating the perfect day will mean far more than some fancy overpriced gift (well, at least for most women it will).

Here are the top 10 things women love to do on Valentine’s Day. Pick one that will make your lady smile and have a very Happy Valentine’s Day!

1. Go to her favorite restaurant.

Simple enough, right? Take her out to her favorite restaurant and enjoy a romantic meal together. You get even more brownie points if it’s hard to get a table at the restaurant, but you remembered to make reservations. She will love that. Sometimes a great meal with the one you love is more than enough to make it a wonderful day.

2. Play hooky.

Take a vacation day or call in sick and ask her to do the same. There is nothing like spending a random weekday together doing whatever you both want to do. The workweek is often crazy, and we can spend our weekends just running errands and catching up on rest. A day off to truly enjoy each other could be just what you both need.

3. Get a massage.

Whether you give it yourself or you send her to the spa, I don’t know many women who would complain about a nice rub down on Valentine’s Day. Busy days stop us from getting pampered as often as we’d like, so when our man encourages us to relax and enjoy, we love it. And if you decide to do the massage yourself, please go all out and set the right mood. Plain baby oil while listening to the R&B station on the radio won’t cut it.

4. Enjoy a home cooked meal (that she didn’t cook.)

I don’t mind cooking for my family, but it sure is nice to enjoy a home cooked meal that I didn’t have to lift a finger to prepare. Get some candles, set the mood, and prepare her a meal she’ll love. It’s both cost-effective and romantic.

5. Snuggle on the couch over Netflix and takeout.

Is your lady a true homebody? If so, a Netflix movie and takeout from her favorite spot may be all she needs to have a great evening. Add dessert, flowers, or candy (depending on what she likes) and you will have a quiet, but fun, night with each other.

6. Read a love letter, from you, while she enjoys champagne and chocolate.

If your lady adores chocolate, please get her some. If she loves champagne and rarely gets to enjoy it, splurge. And to top things off, you can write her a love letter. In today’s age of text messages and emails, a handwritten love note goes such a long way. It doesn’t have to be really long; it just has to express why she means the world to you.

7. Spend a night without the kids.

I love my kids to pieces, but I certainly won’t complain about a night without them. If you are fortunate enough to have family or friends that are willing to babysit, let the kids spend the night someplace else and enjoy an evening at home to do whatever you both desire.

8. Take a trip.

Remember how I suggested that you play hooky? Well you can always use that day off to take a mini trip. Or, since Valentine’s Day is on a week day this year, you can always make plans to celebrate the weekend before by going on an overnight trip that allows you to indulge and reconnect.

9. Unplug.

Even if you both love your gadgets and social media, this is a great day to unplug and just focus on each other. The world doesn’t need a status update about how much you love your woman. Your woman needs you to disconnect from the world and show her how much you love her.

10. Something new.

Rock climbing, dancing, a couple’s massage, a new restaurant—you get the picture. Do something new with the woman in your life. It’s a great surprise and it’s also a great way to reenergize a relationship that could use a little spicing up.
