Travel Tuesday: Road Trip & Weekend Getaway In One!

In most cities, this weekend was a wonderful snapshot of the beautiful days of summer. Summer is perfect for weekend getaways, music festivals and road trips. We have an east coast favorite that is a road trip and a weekend getaway all rolled up into one fabulous event. Virginia’s most popular celebration of music, the Hampton Jazz Festival is back!

The 45th annual Hampton Jazz Festival takes place June 22nd through June 24th at the Hampton Coliseum. Past performers have included Patti LaBelle, Frankie Beverly & Maze, Kirk Whalum, Chrisette Michele and Chaka Khan to name a few. This year’s lineup of music performers is no less fabulous. Headlining on Friday night is Charlie Wilson. Norman Brown, Gerald Albright, Alex Boyd and the wonderful Natalie Cole will also be gracing the stage on Friday night. R&B angels Monica and Ledisi will bring their unique soul sound to the stage Saturday night. Jazz favorites Will Downing and Kenny G. will also grace the stage with unforgettable performances.

Wrapping up the festival on Sunday night will be Dave Koz, Candy Dulfer and BMWK favorites KEM and Philly native, superstar Jill Scott. You will agree that this year’s lineup is fantastic. Concert tickets are amazingly priced at $56.50 (per reserved seat, per night). Group rates (for groups of 45+) are also available. The Hampton Jazz Festival is legendary for its great concerts and selling out very quickly. Buy your tickets now!

Tickets are available on the festivals website www.hamptonjazzfestival.com. Tickets can also be purchased thru www.ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000. For information on hotels, travel and group activities while in Hampton, call the Hampton Convention & Visitors Bureau 1-800-487-8778.

So hire a baby sitter, gas up the minivan and jump on I-95 and head straight for Hampton and VA’s hottest music festival.

See you there!
