Airports are always busy and bustling with activity as people clear security and wait to board their flights. Back in the day airports were just a place to grab some fast food while waiting to board your flight. Times have changed and airports are offering travelers more amenities to make their flights easier and more enjoyable. Here are two fabulous new amenities coming to an airport near you.
Have you ever waited for 30 minutes to an hour to retrieve your bag from the luggage carousel and thought there has to be a better/faster way? Well Delta Airlines agrees. Delta is currently testing a pilot program (through March 31st) called ‘Bags on Time’ that will guarantee that your luggage will arrive at the carousel in 20 minutes or less when traveling on domestic flights. If your luggage doesn’t arrive within the time window, you will be given 2,500 Delta Sky Miles. We love the idea and can’t wait for it to be implemented on all Delta flights. Flying to a sunny destination in the dead of winter? What’s your number one problem with flying in the winter? Your coat! You have to wear it but you don’t want to lug it to your sunny destination. JetBlue to the rescue! JetBlue has been testing their ‘Coat Chex’ program at JFK airport in terminal 5. For $2 per day or $10 a week you can safely check your coat. If you are not returning to JFK via JetBlue, that’s okay because they will mail your coat to your home for FREE! This is a great idea and we can’t wait till it’s available at all airports where JetBlue flights originate.
Other cool amenities available at select airports include seasonal gift wrap, access to state of the art gyms and micro hotels rooms for quick naps. Have a few hours between flights?
