Does Marriage Bring Out Problems? Become a Master Problem Solver

When two people get married it is one of the happiest days of their lives. House on a hill, white picket fence, and a rose bush in the front yard – this is a beautiful picture. But the question is what is going on inside that house.  You must become a master problem solver.

Marriage is like bringing together two foreign nations, each with its own set of rules and guidelines.  And then placing them in a small apartment and saying live together in peace. How many of you know that when you leave your old spot and move into a new spot, purging must take place? Everything you did, said, and had at your old spot may not work in your new home.

Does marriage bring out problems? No, but it will bring out the best or worst in you depending upon how you choose to walk this road. It will naturally show up your ability to communicate and solve challenges together.  You must become a master problem solver.

This is when you allow iron to sharpen iron. The friction and the rubbing between you two can cause sparks to ignite a (GOOD) fire for one another. It will smooth out some of the rough edges.

Small things don’t have to become big things. How will the finances work; do we put our money together? Will we have a TV in our bedroom? Who will wash the clothes or will we do our own? Dishes? Cooking? Help around the house? Everyday tasks that were easy alone now have to be talked about as a couple. Yes, friction will come. You must become a master problem solver.

Divorce most times does not start with “I don’t love you anymore.” It starts with a challenge that has surfaced somewhere in the marriage that the two of you could not resolve. Both or one was left unsatisfied and disappointed and it builds from there.

You NEED love in your marriage without a doubt but you also need to become a master problem solver. If there is a marital skill to invest in, invest in learning to solve problems together. Does marriage bring out problems? No, what it brings out is the individuality of two human beings who are trying to live together as one. It surfaces differences and gives you opportunity to come together as a cohesive unit. The things you can accomplish together as a unit are incredible! Your experiences will be second to none!
