Fall Fashion Fails: 6 Things You Wear that Men Absolutely Hate

Summer is almost over. And you may be planning your fall wardrobe. As you know, I’m all about connecting Christian singles. But sometimes, we, women raise barriers we are unaware of. So today, I wanted to chat about fall fashion pitfalls.

I am by no means a fashion expert. So, I asked the interwebs “what do most women wear that most men hate?” There were almost 9 million responses, but I just took the top 8 and focused on fall/winter options. The thing is I was a little bothered by some of the results…

Peplum Tops

This one was tough to include. Because, I love peplum tops. They make my waist look smaller and hid those handles I’m trying to get rid of.

But a lot of men say these tops look like maternity wear. If you are headed out on a date…maybe skip the peplum top/dress. But if it’s a night out with the ladies, you should be golden.

Ugg Boots (Especially Those Dirty Ones)

This comfy footwear was number one on almost all the lists.

Apparently, the gents just don’t like oversized footwear. They’re reasons ranged from: they are tacky, they make it look like a wholly mammoth has swallowed the bottom half of your leg and it looks like you were just too lazy to change out of your house slippers.

Despite, their warm and fuzzy feeling…sounds like we just need to step away from the Uggs.

It’s just not a classy look. Because we keep it positive on BMWK, I’ll leave it at that.

Fake Nails

This is another tough one because acrylic is so durable and fun. However, several sources explained that most guys don’t pay attention to nails. But when they do notice; it’s usually an observation about how long and fake-looking your nail are; and it’s a turn off.

On a side note, I started noticing that my style icons (Michelle Obama and Halle Berry) keep their nails short.  That was enough for me to kick the habit.

Shoes You Can’t Walk In

High heels make our legs look good. But heels that are too high can make us look ridiculous and walk weird. I know from first-hand experience.

Picture it. You’re walking toward your boyfriend. His parents are in town and are joining you for church. Your outfit is on point. Your hair is blowing in the wind, and you are just waiting for the light to change, so you can float toward them and make a good first impression. But as you are crossing the street, your five-inch heels don’t quite clear the curb. You trip. And know you have to figure out how to put back on your shoe and your dignity.

This happened to me. Not a good look.

Harem Pants

I’m not quite sure this is a thing anymore.

But since it was mentioned so many times, I had to include it. If you’re thinking about digging out those harem pants and seeing if they’ll carry you one more season…for heaven’s sake: don’t!

Every time that fine guy at Starbucks smiles at you, here’s hearing Can’t Touch This in his head.
