Additionally, a crucial part of goal setting is being aware of possible obstacles that could affect your success.  If it’s for business, the challenges usually include scarcity of capital, support, or maybe even passion. Whatever it is, you must be realistic and create a plan to overcome and move forward.

Our relationship goals also suffer when we aren’t honest about our obstacles. It’s time we all take an assessment of our marriage and recognize what is truly getting in the way of us being happy in love.

If your communication is poor, you and your partner won’t be on the same page long enough to make any relationship goals work. Own it, because it is what it is.  You can’t improve until you call it like you see it.

Let your spouse know too that the lack of effective communication is getting in the way of the relationship. Be willing to pinpoint specific actions you’ve noticed that are hurting your marriage as it relates to how you communicate.

Letting Yourself Go

If one or both of you have gotten too comfortable in the relationship it might affect the overall happiness. Relaxing on the standards you’ve set in your marriage will definitely interfere with it prospering.

Letting your looks go and relaxing on household responsibilities will turn one or both partners off and affect the ability to connect. Couples should make sure their maintaining the original attraction.

Other Folks in Your Business

Other people minding your marriage business can be a large barrier and easily break the bond between you and your spouse. No one, outside your marriage, should have an opinion on what happens within your marriage.

Couples have to be strong and present a united front to anyone who thinks they know what’s best for your relationship. Whether it’s in-laws, besties, or homeboys, it’s okay and recommended to keep them out of your love affairs.

Your relationship includes only two people. Those two individuals are responsible for the decisions being made.  Adding more only makes things confusing, limits the strength of your partnership, and hinders the joy you should be experiencing.

If all you really want is to be happy, especially in love, you must make a choice. Obstacles aren’t ever as scary as they first appear. Ignoring them only hurts us. Taking control of them gives us a better chance at achieving those love success goals.
