Recently, a Florida jury awarded Cynthia Robinson one of the largest verdicts in history over a tobacco company, awarding her over $23 billion in punitive damages from RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co.
Robinson won the suit that was filed against RJ Reynolds Tobacco Co. after her 36-year-old husband died from lung cancer in 1996. He was a chain smoker since the age of 13.
In an exclusive interview, Robinson told NBC, “They concealed information that was harmful to a human for years and still to this day have not admitted that they were wrong.”
Robinson was once part of a class action lawsuit that was tossed out, so she later decided to sue RJ Reynolds on her own. RJ Reynolds plans to appeal the verdict, stating that the damages awarded are excessive.
Robinson says if her husband was here he would be proud and tell her, “baby, we did it.”
Grace Clarke says
She was awarded the settlement however it’s being appealled and they haven’t any plans to pay her. They should be ashamed.
I trust that her attorneys are holding RJ Reynolds accountable.
