If you are like me, you will ask your man what he wants on Father’s Day. And if your man is anything like my man, then he’ll probably say: “Nothing.” Occasionally, he may request some type of recently released technical gadget or an item that he needs but has not purchased for himself. But for the most part, he’ll say he wants nothing and tell you to keep it simple.
But why is it so hard for us (ladies) to believe him when he says he really doesn’t want anything. It’s hard for me because I really want to make sure that I show my appreciation for my husband on that day. So I buy him gifts that he doesn’t want. Yeah…that doesn’t make sense now that I’m typing that out.
So, this year I asked my husband and a few other husbands on Facebook, what they really want on Father’s Day. And overwhelmingly, here is what they said:
- They want to be recognized. Just like mothers, fathers want to be appreciated for the role that they play in our lives on Father’s Day.
- They want to sit down. Fathers don’t want to be waiting around in a busy restaurant on Father’s Day. They want to sit down and relax and perhaps watch some TV.
- They want to spend time with their loved ones. Father’s want to spend time with their family on Father’s Day. Ladies, it’s cool that you all spend time with your father on Father’s Day. But also make sure that your husband is taken care of by ensuring that he is getting quality time with his children and his own father.
- They want to be stress free. The last thing a father wants to do on Father’s Day is to be stressed out about the amount of money you are spending on a gift for him. If money is not an issue in your family, then by all means go all out. But, please don’t use this holiday as an excuse to break your budget and cause your man undue stress.
- They want to eat good. Last but certainly not least…your man wants to eat good on Father’s Day.
If I don’t do anything else, I am going to feed my man on Father’s Day. I’m going to show him that I love him through the food that I give him. He’s going to get all of his favorites.
And Johnsonville gave me everything I need to get the day started right for my husband. They gave me this cute tray so that I can serve him and coupons to purchase their Johnsonville Brats, a family favorite.
Thanks to Johnsonville, he’s going to eat good on Father’s Day. And I am going finish the day off strong by giving him that back rub he’s been asking for, that pedicure that he’s been requesting (as he will not go to the nail shops but he likes for me to do it), his favorite spot on the couch…which is also my favorite spot, and 100% reign of the remote control for the entire day (despite the melt down that the kids will have.)
BMWK – what types of things would your man want for Father’s Day?
