Emory University recently appointed an African American female as the Dean of their Goizueta School of Business. This is a first in the school’s history and also a first among the best business programs in the country.
Erika Hayes James, Ph.D, will step into the new role on July 15th. James comes to Emory University from the University of Virginia where she most recently served as senior associate dean for executive education and the school’s Darden Graduate School of Business Administration.
With a long resume that includes serving as a consultant to Fortune 500 companies and teaching, James is more than prepared to take on this role. When expressing her thoughts on what brings her to the institution James says, “I believe that the Goizueta Business School is a world-renowned school that is on the verge of greatness, and I want to be a part of helping the school reach that greatness.”
Congratulations are in order for Dr. James.

Congrats to this extra ordinary woman. She is a beacon of light for many African American women working in higher education at predominately white private and state colleges/universities.
God bless her on this new journey in her life.
