A snippet from Spike Lee’s new documentary “Bad,” a film about Michael Jackson’s “Bad” album on the 25th anniversary of its release, hit the web this week. Although Spike has released few details about release date, Spike is said to have interviewed several people for the full-length feature, from Martin Scorcese, who directed the “Bad” video, to Justin Bieber and Kanye West. In the clip, “The Way You Make Me Feel” choreographer Vince Paterson says that when MJ first started singing a cappella on the set: “Everything stopped. We had to stop shooting, because people just froze. They actually froze.” [Slate]
The Broadway production of “Tennessee Williams’ A Streetcar Named Desire” will receive the Extraordinary Excellence in Diversity on Broadway Award for the 2011-2012 Season from Actors’ Equity Association. The show stars three black and married celebs; actress Nicole Ari Parker (married to actor Boris Kodjoe), actor Blair Underwood (wife Desiree DaCosta) and actor Wood Harris (wife Rebekah Harris). Mariah Carey is reportedly in talks to join the cast of American Idol after J-Lo’s exit, but hubby Nick Cannon doesn’t think the show can afford his wife.
