In one Georgia local county, the school board is frustrated with the lack of parental involvement when it comes to the students. It’s frustrating to the teachers when it’s time for parent-teacher conferences, PTA meetings or anything that involves parental involvement and the parents are missing in action.
It’s been proven that children do better in school if the parents are more hands on, no matter what the income level is. David Morgan, Cobb County school board member, want to punish those parents by not letting them attend their child’s graduation.
“I think graduation, a ceremony itself, is extracurricular and I think it should be tied to parent engagement,” Morgan said.

I love this idea! Parents that do this take away from the child’s achievement on their special day. Don’t show up when everyone in attendance knows that you didn’t do anything to help support your child getting to this point. It puts the child in an awkward situation, and makes everyone defensive.
