This is a sponsored post brought to you by McDonald’s®. I have partnered with them to spread the word about Free McCafé® Coffee Week.
Since we launched BlackandMarriedWithKids.com in December of 2007, Lamar and I have been on a serious grind. A grind to build our business, a grind to reshape our community, and most importantly a grind to change the negative images we see portrayed around African American marriage and family.
On a day to day basis, that grind looks like early mornings and late nights to continue building the site that you’ve grown to love, while creating products and services that will strengthen your family, all while trying to keep our own family happy and healthy in the process.
Our Daily Grind
Lamar and I wake up to get our youngest children ready for school. As soon as the school bus leaves, we jump into updating the site to ensure we have fresh content from our amazing group of writers, ready for you to read. Throughout the day, we have meetings, we curate content, and we work on projects such as our two upcoming film releases for this year.
Just when we get into a groove, we hear the school bus rumbling back into the neighborhood and the kids are coming back home. The juggle between work life, family life and love life is real… but we push through… doing our best to be intentional in all aspects of our life. At times, we do better in certain areas than others. But we push through and continue to grind in an attempt to give it all our best.
After bath-time and bedtime, we push on into the early hours of the night knowing that the work we do makes a difference. We really understand the true value of the legacy we’re attempting to build for both our family and our community.
The last six years have been amazing, but at the same time they have been extremely exhausting. That’s why we appreciate it so much when we read an email saying how one of our films impacted your marriage or when we meet a couple that says the site has made a difference in their lives. Seeing the impact that BMWK has made in your lives helps us to keep going and pushing through.
This is a small glimpse of how we rise & grind each day and we know from talking to so many of you that you put the same effort into following the dreams and passion that you have for yourselves and your family as well.
