Yesterday, People magazine released a their 2014 list of the world’s “most beautiful” people, and I was thrilled to see Lupita Nyong’o named the world’s “most beautiful” person. Our girl Lupita is surely on fire.

Known to the world as the 31-year-old actress who has been catapulted to fame after her role in the 2013 film, “12 Years a Slave,” Lupita has shown everyone that she is indeed beautiful, both inside and out.

I am so proud of Lupita for winning and Oscar and for handling her fame with style and grace. I am especially proud of her for openly discussing her personal issues with her skin color and for being comfortable in her own skin, today. That is no easy feat in a world that can make young Black women feel like their hair and skin color just aren’t good enough.
