There are some strange things going on in the neighborhood of the world today, and I just want to make sure I’m not the only one noticing them:
This past Sunday was the third day of Spring. All week in my region, the weather was 65-75 degrees. Imagine my surprise upon our departure from home to church to see it SNOWING in a place where it’s typically balmy. What’s REALLY going on?
Georgetown, UTEP, Vanderbilt, Florida, Marquette and Notre Dame are some regular names at the NCAA championships…only they’ve already been defeated by teams that have rarely–if ever–made it to the big dance. What’s REALLY going on?
The health care reform bill FINALLY passed! Will wonders ever cease? In a nutshell, this means that medical coverage will be extended to millions of uninsured Americans, and insurance companies will no longer be able to charge women more money or deny coverage to people with medical problems. What’s REALLY going on?
Marriage and movies are starting to link up again and become friends. I can’t believe it! From “Couples Retreat” to “Why Did I Get Married, Too?” movies are actually illustrating the hard work marriage takes, and the rewards that are associated with it when all that hard work pays off. What’s REALLY going on?
I don’t know, but I know this: the changes taking place environmentally, politically, and even socially–whether for better or for worse–will not have a detrimental on my marriage or my family. Change is definitely in the air. Spring has officially sprung, and I’m enjoying the ride!
BMWK, what kinds of changes have YOU noticed in the atmosphere of your life? How are you dealing with the transitions that come and go at such a quick pace in your lives?
God bless!

Harriet Hairston is a woman who slips and slides in and out of labels (military officer, human resource manager, minister, mentor, spoken word artist and teacher). The only ones that have stuck so far are “wife” and “mother” (the most important in her estimation). The rest have taught her well that only what she does for Christ will last. There is one more permanent label she holds: “author.” You can purchase her first book, “Who Are You?” simply by clicking on the link. You can also contact her at [email protected].

Change is definitely in the air. Which is always a good thing. If there wasn’t change, we’d be stuck in a time warp. I’m about to enjoy the spring air.

Harriet, I am trying to figure out if the changes I’m noticing in myself are good or bad. See, I use to be somewhat passive, letting people off the hook pretty easy. The last couple of years I’ve noticed that’s changed. I have been holding people accountable for their actions and just having higher expectations. So, I know it’s a good thing for me, but not so sure how everyone else around me is feeling :). Great post!
