I was sent this video and had to share it with the BMWK family. It really reminded me of an interview we did recently while taping our new film “Men Ain’t Boys.” We were in Tennessee with Dr. Rozario Slack and he mentioned that children measure love not with money but with T. I.M.E. Check out this video and you’ll see why that came to mind. Please let us know what you think in the comments section. -Lamar

This is definitely what we need more of and what you definitely won’t be hearing on the radio. I’m going to buy this brothers album now. Please support good music!

You are so right! The best way to make sure this type of music continues to get produced is if we support it by purchasing it. I’m going to buy it as well. I certainly hope others will as well. This guy needs to know that he has done a great thing by creating a QUALITY song/video with such a powerful and TRUE message.

WOW! WOW! WOW! I agree that THIS is what needs to be on the radio, not that other trash that these kids call music. Parents need to listen to this one too. It is a GREAT message for all.

“I stay in Js, laced in new gear, but I would trade it all if I only had you here…” Just goes to show that children appreciate your presence more than your presents.

This is an exactly reminder to those of us who have children and are working to spend time with our kids. It’s hard when your tired from a long days work, but we must spend that quality time………tired or not.

Lamar and Kinya – Thanks for this post. This is my life sometimes to as a single mother. Often I’m away building and working on a LEGACY for my 4 children, which is very difficult for me to leave them. But I feel like I “must” put in as much time as I can to be the BEST MOTHER, PROVIDER and ROLE MODEL for them. My greatest Blessing is OUR CONSTANT LINE OF OPEN COMMUNICATION…I know we couldn’t make it without it. So for me, it’s not the presents, but we all could ues a little more of each others presence. So I give that extra hug, kiss, smile, touch, long stare in hopes to connect until we can… Just wanted to share….

Watching that video put thing in prospective for me because even though I don’t have any kids I do it to my wife nephews and as a man I need my time with my moms and loved ones. So let us remember that love, and time aren’t just emotions, they’re ways of living and preserving the lives, minds, and positive emotional influence of our youth and our future. One Love

So many kids are going thru this especially in our african american communities. Im 21 years old and at the most crucial time in my life 10-18 I was the kid singing in this song. I thank God for those that were put in my life to be an example when my absentee mother and distant father couldnt…this song is real and it encourages me and my husband to not allow my son to ever have to go through that same voids that we’ve gone through…Peace & Love yall =)

WOW! Lamar, I feel soooo deeply about this very topic. When I think back to my childhood, my fondest memories were of coming home from school, smelling a pot roast, or my mama making a “hot” breakfast for my brothers and I before we went to school. I felt real secure when I would turn the knob after school, knowing she was in there waiting to hear about my day.
I wanted so badly for my children to have that same security. My husband and I talked about this quite a bit back in college, before we were even engaged….I wanted to be home with my kids, at least for a few years.
Well, here we are 15 years and two daughters later, and I’ve been home for six years now. ECONOMICALLY, it WAS NOT the best decision (we didn’t really factor or project the cost of living while we discussed our future) but, I get so much JOY just from being here, for them.
I know what their going through, their issues with their friends and teachers, what they like and dislike. I know a price can’t be put on that. My girls don’t understand how this will impact their lives, but I KNOW it will, positively, so I’m gonna keep cutting coupons, making pots of stew that we’ll eat for days, do jobs from home, and sacrifice my time while they’re figuring life out…..
KUDOS TO Json!! (and you for giving him this exposure)…
Keeshab2002 says
Sorry, but I also want to add that I know there’s A WHOLE LOT of parents who would love to be home more for their children, but circumstances won’t allow them to. I hear it from almost ALL of my working friends….I do thank God every day for just giving me a husband who makes this possible for me to do…..(didn’t want to seem insensitive)…

I think TuPac started this and Ed O G did similar songs. Unfortunately this music willl NOT get played on regular radio. I love the message, but it needs to have a better hook to get real airplay. I tell you what, if Kanye, Nas or Drake did a cameo, it would be layed 1,000,000 times a day.

This is a powerful song. I could only wish that it is picked up for major distribution but alas in this sex, drugs, money focused entertainment world we have it may not be. I will however do my part and share this very inspirational and truth laden piece with my circle.

Great message. I work with youth and this video is much needed and the lyrics should be heard from all parents.

This is powerful. It shows that children aren’t worried about money, they want someone to take time out to be there for them.Quality time is so priceless, when money comes and goes, but your child is still. This should be seen in parenting classes, daycare centers, welfare agency, and even the children doctor’s office. This is real talk.I am blessed that my 3 adult children grow up with both parents in the home.We always put them first. My son is doing the same thing with his princesses!!This is awesome video.Keep up your good work and may God continue to bless you!!

Wow! What a great song! It is for this reason I am a stay at home mom! I know that situations prevent this from being a possibility for all, but this song says it all!

Awesome video with a POWERFUL message. But, I would like to say this one thing. I wish a lot of us would stop saying, “They won’t put this on the radio.” Let’s be positive and put this song on the radio by requesting your local stations to play it. It is a great message that should be heard by the kids and their parents.

This video should be worldwide for every parent and future parent to see. Powerful meassge.

The one thing that was said that was important is that this kind of music must be circulated to the point to be played on the radio, repeatedly. This is the music that should be heard more over the repetitive degrading music our 5 yr olds are singing.
