Springtime always gives us a sense of new birth and new beginnings in our lives. It’s a time to refresh and start anew. This is why we often do spring cleaning and de-cluttering around this time of year. It’s a time for a brand new start. Singles, springtime is a great time to find things to do which are about “doing you” rather than trying to find someone else. When Mr. or Mrs. Right is ready, he or she will come along. Until then, here are 5 great experiences to do alone or with a friend this spring:
Take a Cruise
I’m a fan or warmer weather, so I suggest checking out the great cruises headed to the Bahamas, Jamaica and the Virgin Islands daily. Royal Caribbean and Princess cruise lines offer cruises to Hawaii and Tahiti as well. For those who are a bit more adventurous and enjoy cooler climates, there are spring cruises to Vancouver, British Columbia Canada and our great state of Alaska. Cruises in the Arctic expose passengers to icebergs and Arctic wildlife which are things most of us don’t get to experience very often.
Spring Festivals
Every major city in America will have some sort of festival going on as we enter into the spring season. Take the time to get out and enjoy what your city and surrounding areas have to offer. For example, Memphis, TN has a festival called Memphis in May with music, dancing, games and a BBQ cook-off. There is the New Orleans Wine and Food Festival happening in May. Atlanta hosts a wine and food festival and a jazz festival, both in May. Check what’s happening in your area, you will find lots of great festivals to attend.
Concerts
Most major artist do their tours beginning in the spring. Look for tour dates coming in the near future for your favorite artists. If you have not already done so, sign up for your favorite artist’s website to know when they will be in your area. It’s also a good idea to sign up for the Ticketmaster email lists, as they will also inform you when artists are in your area.
Run a 5k or 10k
Spring is when the race season gets cranked up. Most cities have runner’s clubs and some even have runner’s clubs designed specifically for singles. There are sites devoted to runner’s clubs across the country. A great way to stay healthy while not tied to a treadmill is preparing for a 5k or 10k, which is good for both your mind and body. Find a 5k or 10k race and get going!
Take up an Outdoor Sport
Find an outdoor sport that you love and work to get better at it (I mentioned running above, but that was for a specific event). For example, my outdoor sport is golf. I doubt I’ll ever master it, but it keeps me intrigued and constantly working to get better. Find what you love to do outdoors and put some time into getting better at it. It could be gardening, horseback riding, fishing or any number of other activities you can do this spring. You will appreciate the time you spend outdoors enjoying nature and our environment.
Being single should be a great time and a fun time in our lives. Make the most of it! Enjoy the spring season and most of all, enjoy the single life!
