“Yup I went ahead and got my practice marriage out of the way!” Now I know for many this statement is a light hearted joke, but I’ve heard it consistently enough to know that there is more to the story. There was even a network show called Starter Wives if you don’t believe me. For many this isn’t a joke… it’s a mindset and it’s indicative of how some view the institution of marriage. Too often a mockery of marriage is being made, yet we still play it off as if it means nothing. Well as much slack as I know I may get for writing this piece I’m gonna say what many have been thinking!
Too many folks choose a mate and get married for all of the wrong reasons and it results in these “practice marriages!” Some of these reasons include:
