As we blister through March and on to oh so beautiful April, my mind inevitably shifts into cleaning mode. I’m not sure if everyone participates in Spring cleaning, but I am a dedicated subscriber. There is nothing better than opening all the windows to let fresh air waft through our home while I sort through the closets and clean the pantry. It is the one time of year I let my Susie homemaker flag fly.

Once all the dusting, organizing, polishing, scrubbing, and sorting is done, I like to spruce up the place by changing out decor items and accessories. Things like pillows, textiles, and wall pieces are the jewelry of the home, so I use them to add a little zing to the space.

Pillows

So easy to purchase or make yourself.

Wall decor

If you hate flowers but love floral, (like me) wall decor may be the best bet.

Table Decor

Since they are small, try pieces that are a little outside your comfort zone.

Textiles

Table cloths, curtains, bedding, and towels can be changed out.

Rugs

Even if you have carpet, a well placed rug can anchor a room and add some personality.
