This is part of a sponsored campaign with McDonald’s®. All opinions are my own.
We recently made it through the season of love or February depending on what you call it. While the hot topic of conversation may have been how to express love to your loved ones, something, if not more important, is how do you express love to yourself?
Are you pushing so hard with your main hustle, your side hustle, kids, school and family that you’re neglecting your own needs? I know sometimes it gets hard and you feel like you have to do for everyone else before you do for yourself, but I’d like to share something with you.
Loving ourselves is something that many of us don’t discover until it’s too late. But we’re going to help you with a lesson today. Explore these six ways to love yourself, then let us know what you think in the comments section.
Pamper Yourself
Try a trip to the spa, a manicure or pedicure or picking up that dress that you’ve had your eye on. If you’re constantly sacrificing for others it’s OK to take care of yourself for once. Let someone take care of you and shine like the star that you are.
Take Time Alone
When was the last time you had time alone? No kids, no noise, no distractions. Try an overnight stay at a local hotel all by yourself. Take in that new movie that has absolutely no animation at all! If you’re constantly surrounded by other people, time alone may be just what the doctor ordered. Imagine getting cozy with your favorite book or the DVD you’ve been wanting to see for months. It’s possible and you deserve it.
Set Your Own Goals
Set goals for yourself. Focus on what will make you happy or take you to the next level, whether it’s personal, career or education based. After you set your goals, create a plan to incorporate them into your busy life and begin to execute it. Check back regularly to ensure you’re progressing towards the things that you want for your own life.
Protect Your Temple
In the midst of your busy life, you must remember to take care of your body so it can continue to take care of you. Schedule those regular workouts. See your doctors. And try eating healthier or juicing before you go to work. Make better health choices to improve your lifestyle. You’ll feel better, you’ll be more energized and you’ll look the part.
Get Help When You Need It
You may think I’m referring to help with the laundry, house cleaning or dishes. But, I’m talking about professional help. We talk to so many people who are carrying around baggage from how they were raised or from their marriages but they just exist in it. And existing is not living. We want you to live and enjoy the life that you have. When you need help reach out to professionals and get it. Equip yourself with the tools to overcome your challenges. Your best days are ahead of you. Get started living them today.
This is why I am happy to be partnering with McDonald’s to remind us all to focus on the moments that matter. BMWK family do you love yourself? If you don’t do anything currently, what can you begin doing this week?
Disclosure: Thank you to McDonald’s® for sponsoring this post and for always being there over the years when I’ve needed to focus on what really matters. All opinions are my own.

How do you begin to love yourself when you’ve never had anyone truly love you, not even family?
