An author, rapper and celebrated actor who appeared on all five seasons of HBO’s The Wire, Tray Chaney has just released a new video for his latest song, “Dedicated Father.”
Showcasing four generations of Chaney men, “Dedicated Father” features Tray’s 78-year-old grandfather, Samuel Chaney Sr., his 53-year-old father, Samuel Chaney, Jr. and his 7-year old son, Malachi.
Originally from Washington, DC, Tray Chaney decided to shoot part of the video at the Martin Luther King, Jr. Memorial – a beautiful backdrop for such a meaningful song about fatherhood and manhood.
The video also features Chaney’s wife and daughter and touches, not just on the importance of being a great dad to his son, but also on the complexities involved with blended families and what it has meant for him to take on the responsibility of raising a young lady who barely new her biological father and was only 8-years-old when Chaney met her.
Highlighting what it means to be a great dad is something we really can’t get enough of, and Chaney does a great job of using his influence as an actor and a hip hop artist to get his message across.
