The superintendent of the Edwardsville school district in Illinois has ordered that discussions about Mike Brown or Ferguson, MO stay out of the classroom.
According to KMOX News, Superintendent Ed Hightower says that there would normally be a discussion about current events in the classroom, but in this particular case, he will not allow it since there are so many unknown facts.
Teachers are told not to bring it up and to change the subject if a student brings it up. Apparently the guideline was put in place by the superintendent after complaints were filed by parents who expressed concern because teachers were sharing their personal opinions in the classroom about the case.
BMWK family, do you think this is a discussion that should be had in the classroom?
