Some of the best vacations that I’ve had with my family (mother, father, siblings) and now with my own kids and husband are our trips to the beach. Don’t get me wrong, we love a good trip to the amusement parks just as much as the next family. But there is something so special about the quality time that we are able to spend together at the beach. So when I was asked to write about how we can “Love the moment in Virginia Beach,” I couldn’t wait to take this trip down memory lane.
I grew up in the Tidewater Area of Virginia so we were surrounded by water. And we were just minutes away from Virginia Beach. Some of my best times growing up were spent at VA Beach (from early childhood through my teen years.) As a young child, we had family days at the beach. We would pack a cooler full of goodies and head to VA beach for a day of fun in the sun. We played in the sand, snacked all day, and walked the Boardwalk to visit the various stores and people watch.
As a teenager, we enjoyed the beach even more because we were able to drive there ourselves and spend Friday or Saturday evening walking the strip with all of our friends and eating pizza by the slice. And of course, Prom night was not Prom night without a trip to VA Beach afterwards!! I can’t tell you about all of the fun stuff we did on Prom night (what happens in VA Beach”... stays in VA Beach ..wink wink.)
We are already creating new memories at VA Beach. My sister and I have our own kids now (4 kids each.) So when I come to town we can’t resist taking our crew of kids to the beach for a day of fun in the sun with their cousins.
My oldest is a freshman in college. He and his girlfriend visited my mom over spring break. And of course, he had to take his girlfriend to VA beach for a day of fun. My mom called me on the phone and said”...your son just borrowed my car and you’ll never guess where he took his girlfriend, VA Beach!! It instantly brought back memories of the dates that I had on VA Beach. I know exactly why they say “Virginia is for Lovers” as there is nothing more romantic than strolling the beach with your favorite guy or gal.
And now that we live hundreds of miles away from VA Beach, I can actually bring my kids back to stay (as tourists) by booking a nice hotel or timeshare. I am looking forward to just relaxing on the beach while the kids collect sea shells and play in the water. And the best part of VA Beach is that it has so many wonderful attractions in the area to chose from like: walking the Boardwalk, visiting the Virginia Aquarium, visiting many of the historical areas and amusement parks such Busch Gardens where I worked as a teen. So we’ll be able to plan many days of fun entertainment for the kids.
As you are making your vacation plans for the summer, please consider taking a trip to Virginia Beach, VA. There’s something for everyone and the memories that you create will be priceless.
