Recently here in the Washington, DC area, a horrific accident took place. A young woman was crossing the Bay Bridge in her car when a tractor trailer slammed into the back of her and sent her car careening over the bridge and into the Chesapeake Bay. Now think about the Chesapeake Bay being 4 times the size of the state of Maryland and 45.93 feet deep (according to the Bay’s website) and imagine your car plummeting into the water. Even if it were a pool of water, think about the intensity of that impact.
Morgan Lake was met with fate and lived to tell it. After thinking the worst, fearing death, and then struggling to free herself from the sinking car, she managed to swim to safety. Watch the video clip below that was taken just minutes after the accident.
Thank goodness she knew how to swim. How much different would the outcome have been if she didn’t know how to swim?
That thing really stuck with me; what if she didn’t know how to swim? The fact that Morgan, at some point in her life, took the time and effort to learn to swim; investing in herself spoke loud and clear. We all have the ability to float, but we all don’t know how to exercise that ability because we have not taken the time to master the skill. It caused me to think of all the abilities that are inside of each of us that sit dormant because mastery of the skill hasn’t been attained. These are abilities that could someday save your life, as in Morgan’s case. They could be the key to your future, to make you millions, or even save your relationship.
You may or may not see the benefit of investing the time or money right now, but investing in YOU is the best investment you can make.
The power to communicate well, manage your finances, exhibit patience, or even to SWIM, are ALL inside of you. What skills are you willing to master to benefit your life? You may or may not see the benefit of investing the time or money right now, but investing in YOU is the best investment you can make. There are many abilities, skills, and gifts that you are capable of developing. Think about it and make a declaration today.
BMWK – Post here and tell let us share in your commitment. What are you willing to invest in YOU? What are you willing to step out on today? What excuses are you willing to give up that have been holding you back from your appointed destiny? Make your declaration.

Wow. Thank God she is alive to tell her own story. Makes me think more of some of the challenges I need to face on my own. Like learning how to swim and put the fear part behind me. Thank you great inspiring story.

Carmen, thanks for commenting. When I saw that story on the news it made an impact on me. Look at how different her life may have been if she didn’t take time to cultivate what was ALREADY in her. Glad to hear you are moving through your own fears.
