Photos surfaced of 18-year-old Allen Bullock smashing a police car with a traffic cone and breaking the window during protests in Baltimore.
After discovering what his stepson did, Maurice Hawkins encouraged Bullock to turn himself in to authorities. Bullock did as he was told and is now being held on $500,000 bail, which his parents are unable to afford.
Bullock was charged with eight criminal counts, including rioting and malicious destruction of property after arriving at the Baltimore Juvenile Justice Center with his stepfather, Maurice Hawkins.
According to the Guardian, Maurice’s mother and stepfather regret what they did.
According to state sentencing guidelines, rioting in Maryland carries a maximum sentence of life, but Bullock’s parents say he could realistically face between four to eight years.
BMWK, would you have turned your son in?

The parents did the right thing….bail will be lowered and hopefully he will learn from the experience. If they didn’t turn him in he would more than likely do it again. Doing the right thing is always the best policy.

Did you not continue to read people? It says he will more than likely get 4-8 and though I am completely against police brutality which I have seen so much of since my move from NY to VA. I also dont think it wise to be putting your teens out on the streets to destroy public property. In the long run those repairs will come from the citizens of Baltimore! Money that could have gone to educational programs. Not to mention that teen is already screwed for life with that felony charge! He will probably do a yr at best.but that F charge will B his life sentence right there. Dont be so hard on the parents that just thought they were doing tje right thing. Dont be so quick to judge! After all that kind of attitude is what your fighting against right?

These parents seem to be very ignorant…why would they encourage their son to turn himself without a civil rights attorney or attorney period? It doesn’t matter if committed a crime or not, you don’t turn yourself in without an attorney — that’s common knowledge. SMH.
