We know you love your spouse. You pledged before God and all your friends and family that you would forsake all others and be faithful to your spouse until death parts you.
But sometimes, that love gets buried under past-due light bills, the needs of your kids, new tires for the car, and a dozen other things that take the focus off the two of you.
Instead of reaching for the standard Hallmark card at anniversaries and birthdays, begin a new tradition of exchanging love letters. The challenge (and the reward) is forcing yourself to sit down and think about your spouse’s qualities that you just can’t get enough of. Then put it on paper.
It seems very 1911 rather than 2011, but there’s something incredibly sincere and endearing about taking a pen and putting in to paper. If you struggle with the words, or don’t know how to express how you feel through the written word, just write like you talk. It’s honest, it’s real, it’s you.
BMWK, when’s the last time you wrote your spouse a letter telling them how much you love them?
