It’s festivals month here at BMWK! All month long in our weekend travel guide we will profile a popular music festival in a fabulous destination.
There’s still time to hop a flight to Jamaica and enjoy the beautiful Caribbean island and experience the art of music at the 2012 Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival. One of our favorite islands, Jamaica, is celebrating its 50th year of independence, the Golden Jubilee. The Jamaica Jazz & Blues Festival officially starts the celebration.
Started in 1996 the festival is a celebration of the art of music with 25 live performances over three days. Past performers have included Chaka Khan, Gladys Knight, John Legend and Alicia Keys. This year’s lineup does not disappoint.
In celebration of the Golden Jubilee, Thursday (1/26) performances are dedicated to celebrating the history of Jamaican music. Rockin’ the stage that night are: Reggae ambassador Shaggy, Reggae Royalty KY-Mani Marley (Bob Marley’s son), rising Reggae star Etana and the Queen of Reggae, Ms. Marcia Griffiths. Friday night (1/27) the ladies take over. Canada’s reigning R&B Queen Jully Black brings her gift to the stage as well as jazz artist Nicole Henry. International superstar Celine Dion headlines the night bringing her Vegas style show keeping the party going.
Saturday (1/28) comes to life with the jazz stylings of Earl Klugh, and Heads of State, the newest New Edition (lol) featuring Bobby Brown, Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gill. Wrapping the party/festival is none other than the “Lady Killer” himself Cee-Lo Green.
Buy your tickets now! The celebration of music kicks off nightly at Greenfield Stadium, Trelawny ““ Montego Bay, Jamaica. Luxury accommodations for two are still available. A beautiful island, great food and fabulous music always make a great weekend getaway! For more information and ticket prices please visit: www.jamaicajazzandblues.com or call (876) 953-8282.

The line-up sounds fabulous! Cee Lo Green is going to bring his best ‘Voice.’ Celine Dion always gives 100% and Marcia Griffiths, no words can describe the Queen of Reggae.
