Your kids are back in school and guess what? In a lot of cases the school lunch just doesn’t cut it. The french bread pizza tastes like cardboard and you want them to eat healthier anyway. Well guess what you’re in luck! This week we’re challenging you to provide healthier options for your kids lunch at school.
School-aged children need food and lots of good nutrients in that food. Their little brains and bodies are churning all throughout the day. On top of the regular rigors of the school day our kids also participate in after school activities so they’re not able to come directly home and eat snacks like they normally would. Since this is the case we have to make sure they have what they need.
Our kids love and I mean L-O-V-E taking lunch and\or snacks to school. We also let them assist us in making the decisions on what they should take. Then if it needs to be placed into sandwich bags they love doing that part and then collecting everything to put into their new-style lunch boxes. It really makes them feel like big kids and like they’re making big decisions now.
They also like to pick out their own snacks when they come home but we oversee this process as well. Some of the kids favorite snacks are Go-Gurts and of course fruit. Just yesterday one of our girls was eating apple slices with peanut butter for her snack.
Our friends at Disney Living have some great snack options that your kids can enjoy and they’ll love to see their favorite characters on the products that they eat. Like we mentioned above let the kids get involved in picking and packing everything up and they’ll love it! From Disney some things we suggest you try are fruit favorites like Brother’s All Natural Freeze Dried Fruit Crisps, Crunch Pak Foodles and Crunch Pak Apple Slices. We mentioned before how our kids love Go-Gurt and now you can get it with Phineas and Ferb on the packaging or characters from the Wizards of Waverly Place. They also have cheezits, rice krispy treats and graham cracker bites. Don’t forget to pack everything up in their Insignia Snack Bags, Sandwich Bags, Lunch Bags and Ice Packs.
What are some ideas that you have on creating healthier snacks and meals for your kids during and after school?
We’re creating healthy lifestyle habits in ways that we hope will be fun for your kids. We’ve partnered with Disney Living to explore fun ways to do this. Through this partnership with Disney Living we’re going to bring you 12 weeks of challenges that will hopefully assist and inspire you to make healthy changes for your children. During the process we’ll share great information (and products too) that can help you along the way.

When kid’s go back to school schedules seem a lot more hectic. It’s always tempting to go with what’s quick and easy. There are so many great healthy snacks on the market today. Fruit is an old staple that is not only a good snack, but also has other uses. You can use it as part of lunch or a side dish with other meals. We have to choose to make healthier selections for ourselves and our families.

My daughter loves fruit. I like mixing it up – grapes and apple slices, watermelon and strawberries, etc. They get different nutrients and I feel good knowing they are eating healthy snacks!
