The Bible can be a little confusing when it comes to “being wealthy.” It states in Ecclesiastes that the love of money is the root of all evil; but then it also says in Ecclesiastes, “money solves everything.”
Well God, which one is it?
Both are absolutely 100% truth. When you fall in love with money, it will both own you and destroy you. At the same time, however, money has the ablity to make things happen and make life easier overall.
We see, demonstrated throughout the Bible, that those who had the ability to attain, maintain, and transfer wealth were considered leaders in their own right.
Jesus himself said, He BECAME poor in order for to us become rich. Jesus is the King of Kings, and the Lord of Lords. What king have you heard of that didn’t have more than enough money to do the things he needed to do?
If we are honest, the majority of our generation was not set up well to begin building wealth. Everyone has to go to school through the assistance of loans, and then graduate to only work a job that doesn’t even cover all of their debts and expenses.
A quote from Generation One: The Search For Black Wealth, the newly released film by Lamar and Ronnie Tyler of Black and Married With Kids states, “The impoverished live day to day, the poor live week to week, the middle class live month to month, the rich live year to year, yet the WEALTHY live GENERATION to GENERATION.”
The Bible states, “A Wise man leaves an inheritance to his children’s children.”
Do you really think it is God’s will for you to worry how you’re going to pay the bills each month? Living paycheck to paycheck? Absolutely not. It is God’s desire for you to be financially free in order to do these 5 things:
1. Tithe faithfully to the Church.
The local church is one of the greatest change agents for local communities. Yes, you may have heard some stories of churches mishandling their finances, but that is one in a million.
There are many churches that are impacting cities, saving souls, and spreading the Gospel to see lives transformed.
This is all made possible through the consistent giving of believers.
God states in the book of Malachi for us to bring our first fruits into the storehouse so there would be food in his house. God desires for us to be wealthy in order to make it possible for churches to continue to do the work of the ministry to see more changed lives!
2. Give money away to those around you that are in need
It is better to GIVE than it is to receive. How many times have you had to pull back from helping someone because you had to first think if you had the money to take care of yourself?
3. Build wealth for your family.
Do you want to hear a hard truth? One day you will die.
Yes, you will not live forever.
This is why you must start thinking about what you are going to leave your family when your time is up. What are you investing in now that your children’s children will benefit from?
God doesn’t want to see you die and not leave anything behind. This is why he wants you to be wise with your daily decisions today.
4. Enjoy the life of freedom He paid for
There is nothing wrong with enjoying life.
If you work hard you should be able to enjoy the fruit of your labor. Even God on the 7th day after creating the World took time to rest.
When you rest you are actually communicating to God that He is the one that helps sustain you, not yourself. Resting from your work is a very powerful principle that many do not practice.
It’s okay to work hard, but be sure you take time to enjoy the results.
5. Partner with organizations to bring about change in our world.
I want to leave this world a better place than when I came.
In order to see that happen, we must invest in organizations that are helping to bring change in the world.
This is what many billionaires today are doing with their money. They are enjoying it, but they are also putting it to work to see this world become better for their children’s children.
From Bill Gates, to Oprah, to Warren Buffet – they each have their own organizations they fund to help see change from the things they are passionate about.
It is for these reasons I thank God I learned quickly that my 9-5 would NEVER enable me to accomplish my financial achievements.
When we started Married and Young, we never thought it would become an avenue for us to have multiple streams of income. It has opened my mind to dream big as we build a brand that is helping men and women from all over the world prepare for, and have an unbreakable marriage.
I believe EVERY PERSON should have something they are doing to create multiple streams of revenue.
A side hustle can change the game for your finances. This is why I have committed myself to help people embrace their passions and coach them into turning their passions into paychecks by helping others.
BMWK, what are you doing to create life changing wealth?
