The holidays are here if you haven’t noticed. With everything on your mind please remember to be safe. State Farm has provided us with some tips to keep you and your family out of harms way during this season. Can you answer these questions?
Q: What are the most common causes of holiday fires in residences?
A: Overloaded electric outlets & faulty wires
Q: How long does it take for a dry Christmas tree to ignite in flames?
A: 7-10 seconds
Q: Name four holiday plant decorations that are toxic to humans and pets.
A: Holly Berries, Jerusalem Cherry, Mistletoe and Poinsettia
Q: How many home burglaries does the FBI report in November and December alone?
A: Nearly 400,000!
Q: Which age groups are at the greatest risk of toy-related injuries?
A: Infants and toddlers
Here are some additional tips from State Farm Insurance pertaining to these quiz questions to make sure everyone stays safe this holiday season.
- Water your Christmas tree! To help keep your tree fresh, the National Christmas Tree Association recommends adding one quart of water per day for each inch of the trunk’s diameter.
- Make sure your home is childproof: Keep decorations with small parts out of kid’s reach as well as dangerous decorative plants such as Mistletoe, holly berries and Jerusalem cherries which can be poisonous if consumed in large amounts.
- Don’t let your garbage advertise your new gadgets: Setting out a box with the picture of a giant TV on it is a prime invitation for burglars
Not only did our friends at State Farm provide us with some great tips but they also partnered with us to host a great giveaway! Two (2) lucky winners will receive a $50 dollar Amazon.com gift card.
