We’re happy to announce that earlier this week we launched a new website that we think will reshape the fabric of the web similar to what BlackandMarriedWithKids.com is doing on a daily basis. Similar to when Ronnie and I started BMWK we saw a gaping hole on the web and decided that it needed to be filled. What we realized was missing from the web was diverse, mature content in video format.
Recent studies have shown that the black community consumes an amazing amount of content online. Furthermore, in a lot of technology niches we are the early adapters. For instance, the black community watches more video content off of the TV than any other ethnic group by using the web and mobile devices like smart phones. The question you have to ask though is what are we consuming?
What we wanted to see on the web was a place where you could find mature webisodes and web shows. We wanted music videos and live performances that don’t denigrate black women or run down 100 ways to get into the dope game. We wanted to highlight independent filmmakers by showcasing full-length and short films to an audience that they may not reach otherwise.
Out of these desires was born the vision for Myculture.tv, a site that requires high quality production and high quality content with each video that is aired. In addition to aggregating some of the best content on the web we’ve also produced several shows directly for the site that you can find below. Please take a few minutes out of your day to take a look at www.MyCulture.tv and let us know what you think in the comments section.

Lamar this is super exciting to me. You’re so on point regarding watching TV “on the go” – i.e. web viewing. I literally only watch television 90% via my DVR. I just don’t have time to adjust my life around tv schedules. If it isn’t taped it won’t be watched by me. My husband will also get in the bed and watch TV via his iPhone. We are big iPhone viewers.
The only glitch to watch for is some vimeo clips can’t be played via iphone. I don’t know why. I’ve tried to watch the Kindred Family Show via iPhone and couldn’t get to it either. 🙁
I will def view these shows later today and send it out to fam and friends! 🙂

Thanks Jonesi, none of the videos are served via Vimeo so you should be good to go. Let me know what you think, check the Honey Do show I think you’ll love that one.

You are awesome Lamar! Way to go! I love this site and I love the content you are choosing to air! I saw your name as producer of the Go Glam & Get Georgous show (those ladies are incredible)! But it wasn’t until I came here and saw your face did I recognize you from the awesome speech you shared via video about 2011 from the Gatekeeper! It was so great that I posted it on my facebook page and I do not put just anything on my page ;o) … I produce and host a cooking show on YouTube and working to finish my food blog (www.shesgotflavor.com) and your speech helped me kick my gear into full throddle, THANK YOU. So from http://www.shesgotflavor.com to http://www.myculture.tv, let me just say YOU ROCK! … Utokia Langley
