If you’ve ever been to a football game between two HBCUs, then you know that during halftime you don’t go to the restroom or hit the snack bar up. You sit with anticipation of the halftime performance of the bands. During Florida A&M University’s halftime performance on November 19th at the Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Florida Classic, the divided crowd of 60,000 FAMU and Bethune-Cookman University fans came together in a brief moment of love. Calvin Hayes, a FAMU alumn proposed to his girlfriend, former Miss FAMU, Kindall Johnson during band’s halftime routine while the band was playing Heatwave’s Always and Forever. It is starting out well! I did this for my wife 8 years ago at the Honda Battle of the Bands with Grambling at the Georgia Dome.
